怎么优雅的表达：“老师，我想晚几天交？”

在教师节前夕

写这样一篇文章

别外应景哈~

这也是为了更舒适的表达让老师少生气嘛

再说，和导师沟通一些日程上的变动，现在已经越来越成为一种必须的技能了！

毕竟这世道，乱七八糟的突发事件可太多，最近英国可不就不大“太平”，一面是62所学校爆发疫情，一边是突然的枪击案，多起持刀捅人事件造成多人死伤。（谈起来让人心情沉重，也扯偏了，让我们回到正题。）

除了外部越来越多的不可抗力影响，还有远程教学引发的各种意外困扰，比如，有的作业提交错误，等到期限过了，才发现自己的马虎，还有的缺乏监督和自制力情况下的拖延造成的延误等等。

在上半年的教学辅导上，我们已经接受过好几次类似的咨询与求助了。

那要怎么样不会让导师生气的说服导师同意延期或者帮忙“擦屁股”呢？

To be or no to be ，这是一个技术问题。

当然也和导师脾性有关，哈哈

但一般而言，你可以试试以下方法：

可用于延期的理由：

延期理由···

1、I’ve got a pre-planned vacation that I can’t change.（旅游）

我有一个无法更改的预先旅行计划。

2、I’ve come down with a sickness and I’m stuck in bed. （生病）

我已经病倒在床上。

3、I don’t have an excuse, I’m sorry – can you cut me a break? （直接说明）

对不起，我没有借口–但您能让我缓缓吗？

4、I thought the assignment was due next week. I didn’t realize until this morning!（理解错误）

直到今天早上我才意识到！我以为作业应在下周完成。

5、I’m suffering from an episode of anxiety / depression. I’ve booked a doctor’s appointment asap.（抑郁）

我患有焦虑症/抑郁症。我已经尽快预约了医生。

6、There was a death in the family (usually your grandma.)（亲人去世）

有某个亲人离世（通常是奶奶）

7、I’ve had writer’s block. （写作遇到阻碍）

我有写不下去了。

8、Work called me in for extra shifts and I really need the money.（工作）

上班需要我加班，而我真的需要钱。

9、My job assigned me a presentation that is due this week.（工作）

我的工作分配给我一个报告，这周要交。

10、I have a wedding coming up that is taking a lot of planning.（结婚）

我的婚礼要开始了，我需要计划很多事情。

11、The trains weren’t on time so I couldn’t get the assignment in today.（交通延误）

火车不准时，所以我今天没能把作业交上来。

12、I’m having computer issues. Here’s a screenshot of the issue.（电脑问题）

使用这些理由注意事项：

虽然可用的理由很多，但在邮件中使用起来，还是有很多注意事项。

基本步骤：

列举充足可信的证据，表现出申请延期的无可奈何不可抗力。

列举足够多的证明，自己在完成作业上的进展与努力，表明自己是非常想按时完成作业。

接下来的计划与方案，准备申请延期多少天，最好承诺此类事情不会再犯。

总而言之，如果“什么努力都不做”就想延期，基本是不可能的。而且一定要提前说，到最后期限才申请延期，怎么听都像是鬼扯。

1、诚实与真诚

如果对于自己撒谎的本事没啥信心的话，还不如老老实实的告诉老师，“I’ve read all of the readings, but the creativity just hasn’t come”，起码看上去真诚多了~

不要使用下列理由

Your dog ate your homework,

Your grandma died (again)

your boss is a jerk

感觉就像是把老师当猴耍。

当然，还是有点技巧的，

可以试着这样组织你的邮件：

首先，表明你在作业上已经花费了不少精力。并已寻求他人帮助。

为了向老师证实“你尽力了”，例举一系列证据。

比如：

我读了很多材料，还是写不出来：

你的阅读笔记，最好是带自己标记的注释的；

我有了一些想法，但零散不成型。

谈谈自己的写作想法；

也咨询过他人，但没啥用。

如果有的话，可以附上之前咨询他人或者老师写作意见的邮件。

其次，告诉老师，你接下来的打算，怎么样确保这种情况不会再发生。

比如，认真规划安排接下来的写作计划：

I am found a spot in the library to dig-in and do the work;

I am freed up some time in my calendar over the next 7 days;

I am found out a study tip that I want to put in place。

最后，再度感谢老师给你这次机会，这对你获取成绩很重要等等。

2、如果你准备使用“加班”这个理由

可以着重强调：

My boss asked me to take on extra shifts; and I pay my own way through life, so the extra money meant a lot to me.

最好提前说，总不能等已经延误后，才告诉老师是因为加班。

3、如果你准备使用“旅行计划”这个理由

可以着重强调：

That the vacation was booked well in advance and was not intended to interfere with the course;

I really want to complete the course this semester in order to meet a personal goal.

一般而言，使用这个理由，是要证明因为更认真的对待作业，不愿意勉强赶工，才会选择提前和老师说明延期，不然，这个理由很有可能会被老师否掉。

最好在学期的第一周或第二周就已经和导师说明，才可能比较有效。

4、如果你准备使用“电脑”这个理由

说实在，电脑出现问题，这个理由太泛滥，现在还有多少的有效性存疑。

最好能提供足够的证明：比如包含日期的维修单，试图恢复数据的证据，损坏的电脑照片等等。

无论如何，做好充足备份，是写稿的基本素养。

5、如果你准备使用“生病”这个理由

这个也是常见的理由，由于比较泛滥，所以老师的抗敏性比较高。

想要靠这个理由说服导师延期，必须要提前说，毕竟如果之前就生病不能完成作业，那为啥不提前发邮件？

并且附上最新的论文进展，如果提交前才生病，那到论文也应该差不多完成了。

还有问诊单与医生证明，那也是必须的。

想钻空子可没那么容易哦~

说了那么多，搞点实际的，以下几个模板可以参考：

Sample Request an Extension to take Extra Shifts at Work

dear [Teacher],

My boss has just gotten in touch asking me to cover some extra shifts atwork for the rest of this week. I’m pretty short on money at this point of thesemester with a few bills coming through, so I’d love to be able to takethem.

Obviously this gets in the way of the time I’ve set aside this week forcompleting the upcoming assignment.

依旧是先写主题，注明目的：
